Tears of joy, tears of gladness,
Tears of woe, tears of sadness,
Whatever the source,
Whatever the course,
They are not sweet,
They are not bitter,
They are only….NAMKEEN.

Set in a small village in the mountainous region, four women – mother with three daughters – live in a ramshackle dilapidated house, there being no male member in the family.

Jyotiamma is an old woman going senile, always mumbling and fumbling and forgetful and yet surprisingly alert and watchful in matters concerning her daughters.

Eldest Nimki is past the age of marriage,

Mitthu is at the age almost,

And the youngest Chinki rapidly approaching the age.

Gerulal, a truck – driver enters their life as a tenant in the house An ordinary common man, simple , warm – hearted, kind and sympathetic. An average person – a little more sensible and sensitive, a little more human and humane.

Insignificant humdrum routine chores and events of daily life seem to generate faith, affection, sense of belonging and alround desire for a happy tomorrow for all.

Each of the sisters would want Gerulal for other sister. Happiness given is happiness gained!!!

Gerulal, on the eve of his departure, proposes to Nimki who cannot easily shirk off her sense of responsibility towards other sisters. Gerulal leaves.

After a lapse of three years, Gerulal chances to meet Chinki as a Nautanki (Nauch Girl). Memories come back and many questions arise. What actually happened? Is Amma alive? What about Mitthu and Nimki? Suddenly there is a strong urge he cannot resist, he starts his journey. The journey of love through all seasons begins……. Trying to peep into the past to build up a new future.
